We then went back to Shinjuku and headed out for dinner at a restaurant where you order your meal on a vending machine. While ordering I noticed a camera crew has walked in and were filming us order. They asked if they could interview us for a Japanese television station! They asked us about the system and where we come from. After we sat down to eat and they keep filming haha it was so funny!!

Back at the hotel we had a drink at our hotel bar then had dinner and walked the streets of Shinjuku! It’s hard to know where to head when there are so many places! We found a cool bar and headed up, Black Cats! It’s dedicated to a Japanese rockabilly band from the 80s. The owner was cool and even gave us a cd!!

Japanese Honeymoon: Part Five

After spending our first few days in heavenly Hakone it was time to head to fast pace, big city Tokyo! We said goodbye to our beautiful hotel and caught a railway car, bullet train and normal train to the busiest train station in the world, Shinjuku. We checked into our hotel, stopped to snack on the very popular octopus balls and then headed out into the night!

We visited a record store that had four levels, with different genres on each level. We bought LOTS of records! I got heaps of Otis Redding!! We also went to a department store called Loft, there were so many levels with different quirky things! I got some brooches, Polaroid photo albums, sushi erasers, cute lunch boxes, popcorn, iPhone “jellyfish” case and lots of cute fridge magnets!

Japanese Honeymoon: Part Four

After chatting to a couple during drinks at our hotel we decided to head to Yunessun, which is like a huge water fun park but it’s based around outdoor hot spring spas!

We had so much fun!! Tattoos aren’t allowed, but being the accommodating people they are, we had to wear small dressing gowns and tape up other tattoos so you couldn’t see them haha! There were lots of different hot spring spas with themes. The first one was a coffee spa, with real coffee!! There was a demonstration taking place, he was speaking Japanese but when the teenage girls near him moved away giggling I realised he wanted a volunteer….

The next few hot springs were red wine, green tea, sake and a traditional style one. The green tea aroma was so strong and it was the hottest. I loved it!!

Japanese Honeymoon: Part Two

Hakone is such a beautiful and calm place. The hotel we stayed at in Hakone, Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa, is absolutely stunning. The traditional onset was a fabulous experience and everyone is so friendly!

We caught a cable car up to Mount Komagatake. The views were amazing and we got to see the volcanic hot springs

IMG_8665.JPG

IMG_8667.JPG

The traditional onsen experience is great! You wear a robe into the change room, strip all your clothes off, wash your body in the shower and then emerge yourself in the 41 degree large bath. The onsen water is from the inside of a volcano. It has a very high Ph which means it is acidic from sulphuric compounds. I felt amazing afterwards and my skin was glowing!
